“When the storms come for us, we turn and face them. We stand our ground until the dark clouds show themselves over the Rockies. Then, we charge. Head first. The thundering stampede is louder and stronger than anything the storm can bring.

To fight the storms, we don’t need armor. For what lives inside, they cannot break.”

-The Bison

No other animal symbolizes the West as dramatically as the Bison.

To showcase his raw power in this piece, he deserved thick, strong brush strokes. The colors in his eye feels soulful.

A story he has yet to tell.

Bison have a long history of running into storms, opposed to other bovine who run from it. The brilliance in all of it is that the storm doesn’t last long for them because they run through it, while the storm catches up to the cattle and they run right along with it.

Every time I look at this piece, I’m drawn into the window of his soul. Into his wisdom… to face your storms head on.
